Pom Pom Sheep Craft

This pom pom sheep craft is pretty easy for the littles to do (it's a bit easier once the kids are hot-glue age) and it's super adorable!  Mostly because if you use the small pom poms, you can make the smallest sheep in the whole wide world.  Well...maybe close to the smallest.

We made a small herd of these pom pom sheep and the kids love them.  Of course, now the challenge is not losing these tiny sheep amidst the chaos.

How to Make Pom Pom Sheep

This super simple pom pom sheep craft is easy to do with kids of just about any age.  The smaller kids will need more patience, when using white glue.  The older kids who are hot-glue age will be able to make these quicker.

(My 6 year old thinks he'd hot-glue age - a definitely category of measurement in our house - but....maybe not quite yet.)

Materials

  • white pom poms (or white or grey or black or brown, if you want some variety in your sheep)
  • googly eyes
  • black felt (or, again, another sheep colour)
  • glue (white glue or hot glue)

How to Make Pom Pom Sheep

This part requires patience, but with a little patience it's really quite straightforward.

  1. Cut out four small rectangles for sheep legs.
  2. Cut out an oval shape for your sheep's face.
  3. Cut out two tear-drop shapes for sheep ears.
  4. Glue the sheep's ears to his face, and then once that's dry glue the googly eyes on as well.
  5. Glue the face to the front of the pom pom.
  6. Glue the legs to the bottom of the pom pom.  If you glue two legs onto the front and two onto the back, you should be able to get your sheep to stand up.

If your sheep has any trouble standing, just bend his legs outwards a little bit (after the glue is dry).  He'll be able to balance on the four legs.
