Paper Plate Sheep Mask
We made this paper plate sheep mask for Messy Church this month. (We're telling the parable of the lost sheep.) It was quite the hit.
This is a great craft for all ages. And the kids can be the sheep once they're done the craft.
How to Make a Paper Plate Sheep Mask
This is a super simple craft that you can do with toddlers, preschoolers, and older kids. As mine get older, they want to do more of the steps, and customize more of the sheep. Of course!
With younger kids, most of their time will be spent sticking cotton balls to their paper plate. (Time very well spent, I might add.) When mine were smaller, they loved to stick things to other things. And they loved to line things up and put things in order.
Materials
- paper plate
- cotton balls
- popsicle stick
- card stock or construction paper
- glue
- scissors
How to Make a Paper Plate Sheep Mask
- Cut out the center of your paper plate.
- Spread some white glue along the remaining part of the paper plate.
- Rip apart some cotton balls to make them more like wool, and stick them to the plate.
- Cut out two teardrop shapes from white card stock or construction paper for the sheep ears.
- Glue the ears to the top of the paper plate (at the back).
- Glue a popsicle stick to the bottom of the paper plate, so that your child can hold the popsicle stick and 'wear' the sheep mask.
Note: the popsicle stick will hold much better, and you'll have a sturdier sheep mask, if you use hot glue for this step.
Done! Tada. Paper plate sheep mask.
Now the kids can wear these masks and pretend to be sheep wherever they go.
