Crochet Fruit Coasters
These crochet fruit coaster are super simple to make. They make for a great last-minute gift, especially paired with a mug and some tea (or coffee, or chocolate). Make them as watermelons, limes, oranges, or lemons.
Fruit Coasters Crochet Pattern
If you have a couple of colors of cotton yarn and an hour or two, you're all set to make a batch of these cute fruit coasters.
I made mine as watermelons and limes. Also on the to-make list: lemons and oranges.
Materials
- cotton yarn, medium weight in 2-3 colors depending on the type of fruit you want to make
- green + white for limes
- orange + white for oranges
- yellow + white for lemons
- pink, white + green for watermelon
- 4.5 mm crochet hook
- scrap of yarn in the right color for fruit seeds
- yarn needle
Crochet Fruit Coasters Pattern
In main fruit color (green for limes, orange for oranges, yellow for lemons, pink for watermelon):
Magic ring, SC 6 in magic ring, join to first stitch, chain 2 (6 SC).
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (12 SC)
Round 3: *2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch* repeat around, join, chain 2 (18 SC)
Round 4: *2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch,* repeat around, join, chain 2 (24 SC)
Round 5: *2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch*, repeat around, join, chain 2 (30 SC)
Round 6: *2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch*, repeat around, join, chain 2 (36 SC)
Round 7: *2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch*, repeat around, join, chain 2 (42 SC)
Round 8: *2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch*, repeat around, join (48 SC)
Switch to white:
Round 9: chain 2, *2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch*, repeat around, join (54 SC)
Switch to color for rind (for limes, lemons, and oranges, this is the same color as the inside of the fruit; for watermelons, switch to green):
Round 10: chain 2, *2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch*, repeat around, join, fasten off (60 SC)
To finish, take a scrap of yarn for the fruit seeds. With a yarn needle, sew on seeds.
